Superb Performance and Value. These boots will see me out.
After many years of trying to find the ideal mountain walking boot, I’ve finally found them.
Top quailty leather, minimal seams, half sizes, good grip and support. Just the right about of flex for mountain walking, and neat and nimble at the same time. Robust enough to handle ‘season snow’, with microspikes, but light enough to blast along the trails when needed.

These will last 10 times as long as a mixed fabric synthetic boot. And they’ll always keep your feet dry with the appropriate leather treatment.

A brilliant ‘Mountain Leader’ boot; not flash or sexy, just brilliant.

These are a superb pair of boots, very comfortable and supportive. Unlike the photograph my pair of size 10s has three sets of hooks on the ankle part. The sole is probably one of the best i’ve had on any mountain boot – they are especially grippy whilst descending slopes – a great design. So far i’ve had eight months use so that is reasonable enough time to give a balanced view. I’ve had Scarpa SLs which are a good boot but nowhere near as comfortable as these. Also Meindl Borneos which are comfortable enough but which have a much more flexible sole.
If you are looking for a stiffish comfortable boot, then these are worth a try. I’m almost reluctant to go back into my winter boots which are almost like slippers (but heavier obviously) – i think these would take a C1 crampon at least…….if we ever get any snow.

I’ve walked for many years all over the UK and never quite felt my boots have been optimal. Until now. From multi day Lakeland wild camps with a 65l pack, snowdonian scrambles, the Fisherfield 6, lairig ghru, suilven, most Scottish isles…they have coped with the worst of Scottish bog and never felt wet, -12 degrees and never felt cold, repeat 25 mile hill days and provided unparalleled comfort all the while. I wouldn’t look anywhere else now for my summer boots.

Build quality is some of the highest I’ve seen; minimal stitching, quality eyelets and components, softer sole than I usually go for but they somehow get away with it, still providing adiquate support even on long days with big packs. The high ankle cuff give super support, which I must say is my preference and I always look for in a boot even before I found these.

  5. Marc part 2

I was worried that the supple leather was too soft; however mine are now ready for a resole, a service offered by hanwag and that is unusual for B0 boots. They still have enough left in them to warrant me getting them resoled, again testament to build quality all the while providing that extra comfort afforded to them by the use of premium soft leather.I was reluctant at first to pay this kind of money for a boot. £180 seemed like top end to me. Take it from me, that extra few quid goes a LONG way, in every sense. The extra comfort these boots afford and their durability was paid me back 10 fold.

And lastly a word on the service provided by this great store. 10/10, unbelievable. I couldn’t believe they put up with my finicky ways! I’m particularly fussy about boots, as they are so important and I struggle to get a really good fit; these guys understand feet and how they fit, the service they provide eclipsed that I have received anywhere else. Thanks guys, really well done!
